Who we are

Leap is a one-year discipleship training programme focussed on shaping men and women of God for life and ministry.

For 25 years, we've been equipping and readying hundreds of young men and women to leap into the call that Christ has for them.

As a ministry of Joshua Generation Church South Africa, we firmly believe in the role of the local church and the value of being part of God's family.

We don't just teach ministry; we live it. Students get to experience real-world ministry, hands on, expressed through the 60 congregations of JoshGen — all the while following the day-to-day pattern of Jesus and His disciples. Using His blueprint, students will be shown the way, work together with us, and then sent out to impact the world.

A brand-new chapter

From 2027, Leap has a new home: a brand-new, purpose-built campus in Pinehurst, Durbanville — located just 30 minutes from Cape Town CBD. As a cutting-edge learning facility, there's no better place to give a year to growing in God and discovering your purpose — surrounded by community, deep in the Word, and stretched in real ministry.

Why LEAP?
  • Rooted in the local church

Get embedded directly into the heart of JoshGen, a cutting-edge church with over 60 congregations across South Africa. You aren't just visiting for a year, you're officially part of the family.

  • Real ministry, not just theory

Don't just study ministry—do it. Weekly outreaches, school visits, and hands-on serving turn head-knowledge into real-world kingdom impact.

  • Intentional community

Live, eat, pray, and grow with a tight-knit crew for a full year. The friendships and deep accountability you build here will easily outlast the program itself. Just ask our alumni!

  • Personal mentorship

Seasoned leaders walk right alongside you in genuine relationship, actively speaking into your character, your calling, and your next step. They care about you and your destiny in Christ, for real.

Our stories

A year that marks you for life.

  • My years at Leap, first as a student (2009–2011) and later as a staff member (2012–2014), were instrumental in shaping the course of my life and ministry. Before Leap, I had a limited understanding of the local church. Through the program, God gave me a deep love for the church and helped me see that it is His primary vehicle for reaching the world. I discovered the beauty of the local church when it functions according to His design and purposes.

It was during my time at Leap that I sensed God's call to church leadership and church planting. The program helped develop leadership capacity in me, taught me to take responsibility, be proactive, and faithfully carry what God entrusts to me. It also gave me opportunities to grow in preaching, discipleship, and serving others.

Today I lead a local church and help oversee churches across Central South Africa, and I can trace many of the convictions and foundations that still shape my life and ministry back to my years at Leap. I remain deeply grateful for the impact it had on my walk with Jesus and my understanding of God's Kingdom purposes through the local church.

  • During our time at Leap, strong, biblical foundations were laid in our lives to set us up to be steadfast in our faith and also to discern God's truth in a world full of opinions and theories. Our time at Leap also shaped how we view church and our calling. We can truly say that we walk in so much victory before our time because of the time we spent at Leap.

  • During my time at Leap, I experienced incredible healing. While I'm still on a journey of growth, the Lord brought healing to areas of my past and allowed me to experience a new level of freedom and wholeness in Him.

I grew tremendously in my relationship with the Lord, and my love for Him deepened in ways I never expected.

I also had the privilege of building meaningful, godly relationships and discovering the beauty of being part of a church family. Through those friendships and community, I experienced God's love, encouragement, and support in a very real way.
